Current Project

Here's the expression sheet of Ned, the character of my thesis film. Still got tons of things to be done before the approaching deadline, which is terrifying. However, I decided not to make this film the center of my struggle, but the story of it. I really want this film to be able to remind us of a thing that we, human, often miss in our life.

I'll keep you guys updated with everything every time I got the chance. Stay tuned!

Themed Sketches

Hi, peeps! Being so overwhelmed w/ thesis film .... (yeah, excuses no. 152 from Ways to Abandon Your Blog). Anyway, I had some themed sketches challenge going with a good friend of mine weeks ago in hopes of practicing our spontaneity of sketching towards any random words. Basically, we determined who's gonna throw the word by rock, scissors, paper. It was really fun!

Respond to the word "pancakes" - pen on paper

Respond to the word "Stripes" - pen on paper

Will post more often! Stay tuned! :)

P.s. : this post is dedicated to Jessica Xu of Weirdo in Pink. You know that feeling when you're poor at something yet there still few people who appreciate what you did? Well, I just found out that Jessica had linked my blog with hers. It's such an honor, really. :D

Post-Hiatus

Above the Bundaran HI - digital

Have been so overwhelmed by all take-home projects for finals in 2 weeks and now, I can scream it out loud,  SAYA BEBAS!! (I'm free!). I can't wait for holiday trip, daily brainstorming of 7th semester final project and much moreeee. You know, it feels really great to take a deep breath and really plan on exciting stuffs to do next :)

Above is a piece that I did for the Wacom-Kreavi online speed painting competition, unfortunately, I failed to finish it on time (the given time is three hours, I could only manage to start painting at the last one hour *sigh, need to learn more about time management, I guess* The theme of the competition that day was "sky". I'm personally a sucker for a starry night sky, so there you go, haha :)

Awhile

Lately, I've been so occupied by school projects and weekly rehearsal until one particular point when I felt so worn out. I didn't feel like fixing rough animation or practicing another piece of music for upcoming course. I was searching any other activities that would keep me away from finishing all my homework, and suddenly, my mind suggested myself. "How about drawing?"

Then, I realized I haven't drawn anything on my sketchbook for a long time. A REALLY LONG TIME.  Like, how on earth did I abandon myself from drawing? It has been something that I've always done throughout my childhood times, my teenage years, all without being asked or forced. Something that encouraged me to pursue animation as a long life career.

I grabbed my pencil and start drowning myself with gesture drawings. Believe it or not, it felt terribly great to be back 'home'. Drawing on papers, it's very humane. It's not something you can achieve through clicks of buttons. It's personal.

Later, it also got me thinking of how great God is. He designs how body moves and functions. All those super complicated mechanism are hard enough just to be drawn on papers.

It's so supra-logical  to think how Almighty God creates every single one of us with distinctive features. Moreover, how He made us to be able to pour our mind through art, be it music or paintings. Even with the modern technology, people can't even generate a single thing that exactly works and feels the way we, humans, did.

Overall, it has been a truly relieving moment for me. Praise the Lord!

Animation blocking done in 3DS Max. 3D model of Achilles (yellow-haired) courtesy of  M. Raswan Orizka
These are screenshots from my team's short film "Achilles". As you see, it's still a (very) rough look of the film and I'm responsible for half of the animation done in this film (gosh). Since the submission deadline for the rough animation has now passed, I really need to focus and bring out all of my energy to fix some weak silhouettes here and there, and at the same time, learn how to (properly) animate. Please kindly pray for me, peeps!

How I'm feeling right now?

GRAAAAAH!!!

I'm really looking forward to the mid-term test since our group has to finish rough animation for our final term short movie (have to force myself to do a lot of animation) but at the same time, I'm feeling so worn out with all the jumbled schedule and deadlines! Gonna watch The Croods tomorrow w/ friends, hope that it'll fix my scribbled mind.

That Lerman Guy

This was taken from 4th semester's assignment of Digital Painting studies. Oh, how I really missed those days when all assignments were emphasizing more on hand-drawn stuff rather than computer thing.

Flash

These guys are characters from my flash game project titled "Finding Ferdinand". In this mini game, you got to find Ferdinand (the right patient) to give him the right treatment. The game still suffered from script errors, though.

Here's some screenshots:

Sydney, December 9

One of the most memorable project I've done so far.is working for my special client, my lovely cousin,  Laurinda! Both my cousin and her husband are a fan of outdoor activities, especially water sports. So, they requested for an illustration with that theme which will be printed in their wedding invitation.

The concept story was originally my cousin's while I suggested some rough sketches to her:

The initial sketch. Lol.

Here's the final look:

The experience of working for someone to generate their ideas into illustration was priceless. I feel really blessed to have them as 'clients' (and the fact that I could be with them on the D-day, on their special moment, it's all His blessings).

P.s. : I still had another illustration made for her wedding, will post it anytime soon!

Farewell

Some of my high school friends are leaving for Germany tonight. In fact, one of them was my best friend in high school and our friendship continues until now. So, I decided to draw something for them this morning.

What I don't remember was speed-painting is totally not my forte and this results in a painting with messy lines everywhere that you're seeing at the moment (I should have begun doing it yesterday). Nevertheless, I did try to communicate how I'm happy for them (hope they could feel it too!)

Enjoy your time there, Ivany Vaputri!

Hello, world!

Hi, I'm Febe! Blogging has never been an easy thing to maintain for me ( I failed most of the time when it comes to being committed to blogging routine), but I'd like to give myself a last shot of being able to post things regularly, and since it's all about artworks that I did, I hope it'll be far from boring. Enjoy!
